Experience the charm of Old Town La Quinta

Image
This week I ventured out to Old Town La Quinta, a quaint spot nestled below the mountains. The stores are charming and unique, and full of merchandise to please the eye. It is an outing you will enjoy with all the restaurants, coffee bars, and old town charm, not to mention the sounds of fountains and music playing that are prominent in the local stores. What a relaxing area to shop in, and I do mean shop. If you don’t end up with a shopping bag or two, I would be surprised. Most of the charm comes from the owners who are very proud to introduce you to their stores and merchandise. Also, the displays are unique and creative, and make an exciting build up to the merchandise they carry. Take your husband to lunch, or grab your girlfriends and explore the treasures Old Town La Quinta has to offer. This will become a new destination for you to enjoy.

Gracie’s Kids

78-100 Main Street, Suite 103, La Quinta. Owner Suzanne Nunez, director of Standing Ovations with James Brolin, had a desire to open this quite unique store. You know that saying “Just do it,” well, that is exactly what she did, with her friend Boni Wall who is the buyer. They went off to Atlanta, and spent and spent some more, and their good taste in buying shows up in this absolutely unique store.

Grandma and Grandpa who want some of the most unusual gift items for their “little darling” will score big here, from toys, books and clothing. This is the only store in the Coachella Valley that carries a full line of premie clothing, and I don’t mean the usual looking ones – these are designer quality goods. If you want to get a baby gift that will aim to please, how about a golfer, fireman, policeman and other figures to dress the little ones in. How about a pair of hiking boots? Sizes range from premie to size 6 for girls and size 8 for boys. It was very hard for me to focus on the interview, as I just wanted to touch and play with and look at everything. Much attention is given to the unusual and colorful displays; they even employ a full time display professional, who really knows a lot about eye appeal, not to mention the packed, yet airy feel of the store. They have been open for several months, and once you have visited this store you will have it on your hit parade. Just knowing about the unusual gifts for the little ones, not to mention how the person receiving it will love you for it, makes a visit here a treat to treasure. While there, go up the street to Gracie’s Emporium which they also own. I will cover it soon.

Elizabeth & Prince

78-075 Main Street, Suite 101, La Quinta. When you walk through the doors you know you have arrived at a very special place. The soft music, the white walls and the white floors, and the airiness definitely give you the feeling of an upscale New York designer store. It makes shopping feel special. Don’t be scared away, though, as the prices for their resort casual designer clothes are well priced and affordable. The merchandise is displayed in color palates and the mixed décor adds a sense of class. It’s obvious that this store was designed and laid out by a professional designer, who happens to be the owner’s husband, Shawn Holoubek. The store, owned by Ana Lisa Holoubek, has been open for five years and has just opened a second store on El Paseo in Palm Desert. They carry bathing suits, separates and soft cotton dressing, perfect for our climate. The displays are quite inviting, and easy to access with the focus on the airy look. Smart displays, color and organization help sell the merchandise, as one can appreciate the look and truly focus on the garment. You will not only enjoy the store, the merchandise, the setting, but also the relaxing treatment the sales staff offers. Shop and relax at the store. By the way, the name of the store represents names of streets in New York. They have definitely brought a little New York to the sidewalks of Old Town La Quinta. They carry and specialize in a lot of high end designers that you don’t see everywhere. Enjoy the experience.

La Quinta Olive Oil Company

78-075 Main Street, La Quinta, Suite 302. The sounds of Italian music and charm will greet you as you walk into this special store with the décor of Italy and hundreds of bottles of oils and vinegars from around the world. There is a long tasting bar which affords you a chance to dip and taste these wonderful treats. This is a great place for a dipping party and social event. The vinegars come from Modena, Italy. The oils come from Purida, Sicily, Spain, Greece, and other locales. They do private parties in the home and can even print custom labels. What a great little gift for dinner parties. They do corporate and charity events as well. They also feature pastas from Italy, Olivewood pieces and ceramics to enhance your décor. The owners are Deborah Degen and her husband, Pete Petraleso, who is from Italy. Deborah is from Minnesota. They have been working together in sales and marketing as V.P. and Senior Vice President of Donnelly Printing Co., and now in the desert they still love working together, and pleasing the palates of the people that visit their store. What a great gift to take as a hostess gift instead of a bottle of wine. All of these products are much healthier and last longer. Their gift baskets are quite unusual and have great appeal. Stop by and get acquainted with these lovely people and taste what they have to offer. Their hours are from 10 a.m. -5 p.m. seven days a week. Ask soon for their summer hours.
