Palm Desert offers fun and eclectic shopping experiences

Image
What I love most about my column is discovering the various treasures in the Coachella Valley along with meeting wonderful owners and associates. I get to see it all, and all I can do is impress upon you that you should get down valley or up valley to see different, exclusive lines of items and clothing. These stores carry something for everyone, and within everyone’s budget.

We can get lazy about driving out of our areas, but the rewards are well worth the trip. While in one of the store I recently frequented, I asked the lady from Tyler, Texas how she heard of the store, and she said “I admired something someone was wearing and I asked where she got it.” This lady lived quite far from El Paseo, and chuckled how she came for one thing, and has been shopping all day. This is how it works if you are willing to explore what the Coachella Valley has to offer. Once you start exploring the stores I have been writing about, you will love it.

Today’s stores are featuring some very special things to think about for Mothers’ Day which is just around the corner. As usual, enjoy shopping!

PALM DESERT:

The Leeuin: 73-730 El Paseo, Suite A

People ask what this stands for and the translation is the lioness, and co-owners, Carla Gramer and Brigette Davis welcome you to a store that has a friendly atmosphere with a variety you don’t often see. Most of the clothes featured are wash and wear, which are important to the traveler and desert dweller. Formerly in old town La Quinta, the new store opened in September of 2012 on El Paseo, and is attracting many people from all over the valley. Prices are reasonable and the store offers sizes from small to extra large. In the store you can put yourself together from head to toe: from shoes to belts, purses, clothing and much more. They carry the Big Cats line by Diane Kali, and are well known for the line, Komarov, which carries special occasion dresses and was featured in fashion week. The line of jewelry from Israel by Fanny Fish is quite unique and affordable at the same time. The store has a very eclectic and international look. This is a true fashion boutique with flair, and a nice place to shop.

It’s Your Name: 72-840 Highway 111, Westfield Mall, Palm Desert.

This is unbelievable to shop at a store that your purchase goes to the American Mobility Outreach program, which uses the money to supply free motor scooters, wheelchairs, and walkers to those in need. This is truly a 501(c) charity operated by Oscar Llort, founder and CEO. The store is operated by many volunteers. This is a wonderful place to get many monogrammed items, very unusual plaques, sentiments, name meanings, and origin. They carry gifts for all ages, and all occasions. There are many unique items, and it’s a great place to visit for your Mothers’ Day purchases. They are opened 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Friday and Saturday is 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday is 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The store has been there for six years, and is one of very few stores that is owned by a foundation and run as a business. Oscar and his wife Monique have invested a lot of their personal money , but feel they will be rewarded and retire happy, because they believe in this wonderful charitable cause. They are able to achieve this by people shopping at this lovely store I can’t say enough about this store, and what it stands for.

Josie’s On El Paseo: 73-330 El Paseo, Suite C, Palm Desert.

You will find this store to be unique, fun and edgy. The merchandise carried is from LA, New York, Italian and French designers. Owner Josie has a real knack for picking merchandise which is affordable. For those of you looking for eco-friendly clothing, they carry a line of bamboo clothes. They are known for carrying a jewelry line entitled Jewelry Loves Heels, which is a handmade line of very unique jewelry. They have many lines of clothing that have different meanings and different cultures that are the basis of the design. It is a charming store. Even the dressing room is charming with cute elephant benches and much more. The store definitely has a Bohemian feel and you will find sizes for everyone’s needs and many gifts can be found here along with wonderful clothing selections for your Mothers’ Day shopping. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m, Sundays are noon to 5 p.m. They are closed August and September each year. Plan to spend some time here as there is so much to see.
