Shopping gives you a chance to get out of the house this summer and explore

Image
I know it’s Hot! out there, and that slows up shopping, but think of ways to have your friends go with you. That way you have a different focus as you are busy talking, and the heat is not as oppressive. The stores are open all year now and they pay high electric bills to bring you comfort. It’s like saying thank you in advance, and it would be nice to go visit them and see what treasures they have. Shopping gets you out of the house and gives you a chance to explore.

On that note as a special treat, the Desert Entertainer and Shopping With Bette are sponsoring a shopping expedition in our desert. It will be on an air conditioned bus on July 31, a scrumptious lunch, giveaways, and a drawings, and special discounts for stores. Join us in celebration of shopping and our wonderful stores in the Coachella Valley. See the ad for the excursion and for further information call (760) 202-4007. Bring a friend, as well, and plan on a terrific fun day. See you aboard.

Palm Desert

Savory Spice Shop; 73-399 El Paseo, #103, Palm Desert. If your pallet is craving a new taste, you might want to put a little spice in your life by visiting the Savory Spice Shop. They feature over 400 spices, with a 120 blends. They are as natural as they can be. One of their specialty features is that they keep their products fresh because over time, flavor dissipates. They purchase just enough inventory to make sure all will be fresh and in this way small and frequent restocking is the way to insure that.

They do guided tastings. Did you know there are six types of Cinnamon; I only know of one. I guess we have a lot of education coming our way, by Mary Cardas, owner, who has been open for one and a half years and is a homegrown resident here in the Coachella Valley. You can buy in small amounts. They also carry some products from local Coachella Valley vendors, such as Stick Figure Salsa, and Sweet Fire Jelly which comes in two flavors Jalapeno Jelly and Citrus Explosion. They also do speaking engagements for programs.

They are open all year around, daily 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and Sunday 11 a.m. - 6pm.

Mlis Skin Care/Synergy Wellness Centre; HMS Plaza, 74-133 El Paseo, Ste 6, Palm Desert. Total all natural skin care products have arrived at the Synergy Wellness Centre. The glamour aspect of the Centre’s business specializes in treatments relating to the nourishment of your skin, not only for the face, but also for the hands and feet.

An education of taking care of your skin as part of a wellness plan is, just as critical as an eating plan. Many people have cracked feet or hands. This can change with the Mlis products offered. One of the products is tissue repair, which is great for cuts and abrasions with super healing power. And again, it is an all natural product.

Regina McGrath, Manager of the glamour division is pleased to help you with your needs, and administer your treatments. You don’t need to worry about your make up either, as Regina is a great make up artist, and she will be featuring the make up from the famous make up artist, Joe Blasco. The Centre is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Appointments are necessary; call (760) 776-5001.

Ozel Fine Jewelers; 73-375 El Paseo, Ste K, Palm Desert. Ozel Fine Jewelers is known for their European elegance, not just the décor of their store. They specialize in European unique designs. They carry 14k and 18k jewelry items, along with stones to enhance their European designs. You will find jewelry to fit every budget and every need.

Owners Joe Jaycobson and Abraham Tekin, are the owners of three stores: Palm Desert, Victorville and Rancho Cucamonga. Custom design and jewelry repairs are also features of Ozel Fine Jewelers. They have a great pride in their designs, but they also have pride in operating their stores themselves, and making you, their customers, satisfied and possessing something they created.

For you history buffs the word “Ozel” in Turkish means something special. What a great name for a jewelry store, as jewelry is something special, very special. This is definitely a family run business as the owners sons, James and Jacob, have followed in their fathers’ footsteps. They are open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5p.m. and they are open all year around.
